Business Transformation Business Case

Business Requirements – Sandstone Services was engaged to prepare a feasibility paper and a subsequent Business Case which addresses the potential of transforming their disparate systems and processes with the implementation of a ERP solution. The papers focused the following aspects;

  • Replacement of all core back office (Finance, HR, Risk, Procurement), Asset Management and Project Management Systems.
  • Comparison of Tier 1 and Tier 2 ERP solutions to meet the requirements and an assessment of implementation risk and the overall cost of ownership
  • High Level assessment of the risks and costs of staying with the existing systems compared with the costs and process benefits that were considered to be relevant with the implementation of a Tier 1 or Tier 2 ERP solution.
  • The degree of change the business would need to undergo and the associated appetite for change across the business.

Role & Approach – To meet the requirements of the Feasibility and Business Case papers, Sandstone Services provided the following services;

  • Structure and Approach to prepare the feasibility and business papers.
  • Business Process Analysis – Review existing documentation, complete requirement gaps, document “As Is” business process flows, prepare target “To Be” process flows. All of the above information was compiled into a requirements document and used as the basis for the Software selection process.
  • Technical Architecture & Analysis – documentation of current environment, conceptual architecture, mapping of business processes to current solutions, target conceptual architecture, scope of integration and technical developments and a hardware recommendation.
  • Change Management Process – Implement an effective change program to support communications with all stakeholders and assess implications of proposed process change.
  • A process to assess tender responses and their subsequent evaluation - Sandstone Services provided a methodology and templates to assist with the development of tender documents to select a preferred ERP solution and Systems Integrator.
  • Commercial and Contractual Support for the contracting of the successful Software Vendor and Systems Integrator - Sandstone Services leveraged its unique level of experience (with Software Vendors and Systems Integrators) to support the preparation of a robust commercial agreement.
  • Preparation of the business case - Sandstone Services provided a business case template and approach which included, cost, benefits, risk, financial modelling, governance and overall structure.
